Glastonbury High Street where we failed to get High
The Falcon Hotel in Bromyard 1500-1700
Lydbrook in the Forest of DeanWe are in Devon after travelling down from Worcester in the fast lane where David was the only one doing the speed limit and cars literally flew past. The record office in Worcester was great and with white gloves I looked through the original baptisimal records for the early Richards. David paced the room, wandered out into a nearby forest and was lost for a while, returning with mud on cream slacks. Naughty boy. I knew I should have brought the washing machine. I have nearly everything else. I began to feel guilty that he was bored and we left early. I have regretted it ever since and will have to come back to the UK. Bother! From Worcester we headed to Broadway in the Heart of England. Yes, lots of flowers drooping in the pouring rain, but worth the visit. A lovely B&B out of town where we were spoilt by Barbara, and an evening meal in the Broadway Inn. (Memo to self - try to cut down on the scotch and dry.) Next to The Forest of Dean where we stayed with sister Helen's friends. Fabulous time here with a great night out (food and wine) and all my washing done. From here we set out for the steam railway where I had my second fix. It rained but I didn't care. David is quite annoyed that his plan to photograph the whole of England is coming unstuck with the inclement weather. He has only taken about 200 photos in 10 days. We set off for Glastonbury thinking we may discover our inner selves and although almost every shop offered an alternate lifestyle, we settled for a sensible meal and a third floor room above a bookstore. Next morning we hurtled down the highway and have landed here in Bovey Tracy. I haven't seen Tracy yet, but think she may be in one of the quaint buildings that line the steep narrow streets. Our B&B is called The Stables (sans horses) and we are very comfortable here, staying for 2 nights. Today we ventured out in the rain (yes, rain) and tripped down to Tuckenhay to visit our Bel's in-laws. Lovely! More driving in the pouring rain to reach home and guess what - it is now sunny and clear at 10 to 8pm. Well, there's always tomorrw when we hit the moors. No idea where we will be tomorrow. After all the effort to type up our trip, David keeps changing it. Never mind, it's so wonderful to be here.
